Steps in User Data Planning
User Data Planning consists of several key steps:
1. Selecting Business Objectives
Start by selecting one or more business objectives based on your industry and subscribed Insider products. This selection will determine the recommended use cases in the next step.

2. Selecting Use Cases
Choose from default use cases recommended based on your objectives, or create your own.
When creating a custom use case, enter a name and description to tailor it to your business needs.

3. Setting Data Requirements
Add or remove Events and Attributes for each selected use case.
Default events and attributes are pre-assigned to each default use case, but you can modify them as needed.

Consider what data is required for campaign triggers, segmentation, personalization, customer journey analysis, and analytics reporting.
Use the Edit button to adjust data as needed.

- Add existing or new events and attributes, but note that newly added items won’t be created in the database (UCD) until you confirm your user data plan.

4. Selecting Data Sources
Define the sources from which you’ll collect data, such as websites, mobile apps, CRM, or external databases.
Avoid data duplication by ensuring that the same event is not sent from multiple sources unless necessary.

5. Selecting Identifiers
Use default identifiers like email address, phone number, or Unique User ID (UUID), or add custom identifiers.
Identifiers help unify user behavior across different platforms and provide a complete view of the customer journey.

6. Confirming the User Data Plan
Review all selections, including Objectives, Use Cases, Events, Attributes, and Data Sources.
Discuss and validate the plan within your team before confirming.

- Insider’s solution architects will review your plan and either approve it or request modifications via email.

- You can track the review status on the User Data Planning page.

- If your plan is rejected, adjust the necessary details and submit it again for review.
Key Considerations for Effective Data Planning
Ensure all data aligns with your campaign and personalization strategies.
Avoid redundancy and unnecessary complexity in data sources.
Validate the plan with your internal teams and the Insider team before confirmation to prevent delays.
Once confirmed, you cannot edit the plan while it is under review. However, after approval, you can make changes and submit it for review again.
By completing your User Data Planning correctly, you ensure a seamless data integration process, enabling powerful user segmentation, campaign execution, and reporting within the Insider platform.
